Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a detailed review of the ongoing flood and landslide situation in Arunachal Pradesh with Chief Minister Pema Khandu, assuring the state of the Central Government’s complete support for relief, rescue, and restoration efforts.

Widespread Impact of Monsoon Fury

Arunachal Pradesh has been grappling with relentless rainfall, resulting in flash floods, landslides, river erosion, and significant damage to roads, bridges, and public infrastructure across several districts. The adverse weather has forced evacuations in vulnerable areas and severely disrupted normal life.

Districts including East Kameng, West Kameng, Lower Subansiri, Papum Pare, and the Itanagar Capital Region have been particularly affected. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in parts of the state, prompting authorities to issue travel advisories and mobilize rescue teams.

Coordinated Response on Ground

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Indian Army, and local administrations are actively engaged in rescue, relief, and restoration operations. The latest high-level review underscores the Centre’s commitment to assisting the state government in restoring connectivity, providing immediate relief to affected families, and monitoring high-risk zones as the monsoon intensifies across the Northeast.
