The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather warning for Arunachal Pradesh, predicting widespread thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and episodes of heavy rain over the coming days. Residents and local authorities are advised to stay vigilant as the monsoon gains momentum across the northeastern state.

District-Wise Thunderstorm and Heavy Rain Outlook

According to the Meteorological Centre in Itanagar, several districts face a high likelihood of intense weather activity. On Tuesday, isolated pockets in West Kameng, East Kameng, Papum Pare, West Siang, Lower Dibang Valley, Lohit, and Namsai are expected to experience thunderstorms with lightning and heavy showers. Thunderstorm activity without heavy rain warnings extends to East Siang, Upper Siang, Lower Siang, Dibang Valley, Anjaw, Changlang, Tirap, and Longding.

Mid-Week Weather Patterns

Conditions are set to remain unsettled on Wednesday, with heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning likely at isolated places in West Kameng, Papum Pare, West Siang, Lower Dibang Valley, and Upper Siang. Similar thunderstorm activity is anticipated in many other parts of the state.

Thursday’s forecast points to thunderstorms and lightning across large parts of Arunachal Pradesh, with heavy rain expected particularly in Tirap, Longding, Changlang, East Siang, West Kameng, and Papum Pare. Districts such as Tawang, Shi-Yomi, Kamle, Lower Subansiri, and Upper Subansiri have no specific heavy rain warnings.

Weekend and Extended Forecast

Thunderstorms with lightning will persist on Friday, with heavy rain likely in isolated areas of West Kameng, Papum Pare, Lohit, Namsai, Changlang, Tirap, and Longding. A comparable pattern is expected on Saturday, affecting West Kameng, Papum Pare, Lower Siang, Lohit, Namsai, Changlang, Tirap, and Longding districts.

Earlier alerts for Monday already highlighted risks in Papum Pare, Lower Subansiri, West Siang, East Siang, Lower Dibang Valley, and Namsai, with thunderstorms possible elsewhere.

Safety Advisory for Residents

The IMD urges people in vulnerable and low-lying regions to exercise caution during periods of intense rainfall and thunderstorms. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely amid the active monsoon phase in the Northeast.
