Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lieutenant General (Retd) KT Parnaik completed his self-enumeration for the upcoming Census 2027 at Lok Bhavan on Friday, setting a strong example for citizens across the state.
During the process, the Governor interacted with census officials and emphasised the critical role of public involvement in this massive national exercise. He highlighted how self-enumeration allows individuals to directly provide accurate details about their families, communities, and regions, ensuring a credible and inclusive census.
“Self-enumeration plays a crucial role in ensuring a credible and inclusive census, as it enables citizens to directly contribute to nation-building through accurate representation of their families, communities, and regions,” Parnaik stated. He added that reliable census data forms the backbone for effective planning of education, healthcare, infrastructure, and welfare schemes, ultimately supporting India’s vision of becoming a developed nation.
The self-enumeration phase under the House Listing Operations for Census 2027 began on April 16 and will continue until April 30, 2026. Residents can conveniently submit their household information online through the official portal. Door-to-door enumeration by officials is scheduled to follow in May.
The Governor urged every resident of Arunachal Pradesh to participate responsibly and provide authentic information, underscoring its importance for shaping future policies and equitable development in the state.
This proactive step by the Governor is expected to boost awareness and encourage higher participation rates in the first phase of the nationwide census.
