ITANAGAR – In a high-stakes pursuit that lasted only a few hours, law enforcement authorities in Arunachal Pradesh successfully apprehended a convicted murderer shortly after his daring escape from a correctional facility.
The Great Escape
The incident unfolded early Wednesday morning when the inmate, identified as Tagu Liyak, managed to breach the security perimeters of the District Jail. Liyak, who was serving a sentence for a previous murder conviction, reportedly took advantage of a security lapse to flee the premises, sparking an immediate state-wide alert.

Upon discovering the breach, the jail administration immediately notified the local police, who activated a multi-agency manhunt. Checkpoints were established at all entry and exit points of the district, and specialized units were deployed to comb the surrounding forest areas and suspected hideouts.
The intensive search operation yielded results within hours. Acting on a tip-off and localized intelligence, a police team tracked Liyak to a secluded location. Despite the convict’s attempt to evade the tightening dragnet, he was surrounded and taken back into custody without further incident.
