Guwahati: A brave Assam man was seriously injured after he was stabbed multiple times by a thief while trying to prevent a burglary attempt at his residence in Guwahati.
The incident occurred on the night of April 15 in the Hatigaon area of the city. The victim, identified as Dulal Das (42), noticed suspicious movement near his house and courageously confronted the intruder.
According to police, the thief, upon being challenged, attacked Dulal Das with a sharp weapon, stabbing him repeatedly in the abdomen and other parts of the body. Despite sustaining serious injuries, the victim raised an alarm, forcing the thief to flee the spot without stealing anything.
Neighbours rushed the injured man to a nearby hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. His condition is stated to be critical but stable.
Guwahati Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to nab the accused. A special team has been formed to investigate the case and trace the fugitive.
Senior police officers have appealed to the public to remain vigilant and avoid confronting armed intruders directly. They advised citizens to immediately inform the police in case of any suspicious activity.
This incident has once again highlighted the rising cases of burglary and theft in residential areas of Guwahati, prompting calls for increased police patrolling during night hours.
