A 33-year-old man has been arrested by the Itanagar Capital Region Police for allegedly raping and sexually harassing a 20-year-old domestic worker over a period of two years at his residence near IG Park, authorities confirmed on Monday.

The victim, a native of Goju village, filed a First Information Report (FIR) on June 13 at the Bordumsa police station in Changlang district. Following the complaint, the accused was apprehended on Sunday, and the case was subsequently transferred to the Itanagar Women Police Station for further investigation, according to SP (Itanagar Capital Region) Jummar Basar.

The woman, employed as a domestic help at the accused’s home since 2023, alleged repeated sexual assault and harassment despite her resistance. The police are continuing their investigation to gather additional evidence and ensure justice for the victim.

This case has sparked outrage in the region, with calls for stricter measures to protect vulnerable workers. Authorities have assured a thorough probe to address the allegations and hold the accused accountable.
