Guwahati Implements Vehicle Limits for Upcoming Events from February 24-26

Guwahati, February 23, 2025 – The Guwahati Traffic Police have rolled out a series of vehicle movement restrictions effective from February 24 to 26, 2025, to ensure public safety and smooth operations during two major events: the ‘Jhumoir Binandini’ cultural program and Advantage Assam 2.0. These measures aim to facilitate easy access for emergency services and manage crowds at key venues, including the Sarusajai Sports Complex and Khanapara Veterinary Field.

The restrictions will impact commercial goods-carrying vehicles across multiple categories. From 7:00 AM to 11:30 PM on February 24, and from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM on February 25 and 26, vehicles with four wheels or more will be barred from National Highways 27 and 17 within Guwahati city limits. Additionally, on February 25, three-wheeled and larger commercial vehicles will face curbs on prominent roads such as GS Road, B. Barooah Road, GNB Road, MG Road, AT Road, and Panjabari Road from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Specific entry protocols have been outlined for event attendees. At Sarusajai Sports Complex, GOLD Vehicle Pass holders will access the venue via Gate No. 1 B, while those with DROP-OFF Passes will disembark near an internal roundabout. Essential service vehicles with GREEN Passes will also use Gate No. 1 B. For Khanapara Veterinary Field, SAFFRON (Pentagon) Pass holders can alight inside, while SAFFRON (Triangle) and GOLD Pass holders will exit at Gate No. 6.

Authorities have urged residents to plan their travel accordingly and adhere to the guidelines to minimize disruptions. These steps reflect a proactive approach to balancing event logistics with public convenience in Assam’s bustling capital.
