The initiative supports the organic production, processing, and marketing of agricultural produce.

Arunachal Pradesh has made significant strides in spice cultivation:

  • Large Cardamom: The state ranks second in India for large cardamom production, with efforts underway to become the top producer.
  • Organic Certification: Arunachal Pradesh is the first state in India to obtain organic certification for kiwi fruit, setting a precedent that can be extended to spice cultivation.

Future Prospects

The government’s focus on area expansion programs, covering 8,500 hectares for crops like large cardamom, kiwi, orange, walnut, apple, and medicinal plants, aims to benefit approximately 8,500 farmers. These efforts are expected to enhance the state’s agricultural output and provide a sustainable income source for the farming community.
