Techi Doria Smashes 160 as Arunachal Fight Back in Ranji

Techi Doria has become the first cricketer from Arunachal Pradesh to score 150-plus in a Ranji Trophy innings, striking 160 against Manipur.

Techi Doria has created Ranji Trophy history for Arunachal Pradesh, becoming the first cricketer from the state to score 150-plus runs in a Ranji Trophy innings. Doria struck 160 against Manipur in the Plate Group match at the Narendra Modi Stadium B Ground in Ahmedabad, turning a match that had slipped badly away from Arunachal into a genuine contest.

The innings carried extra weight because of the position Arunachal were in. The side had been dismissed for 111 in the first innings, with Doria contributing seven, before Manipur replied with 364 to secure a 253-run lead. A second collapse would have ended the match tamely. Instead, Doria stood firm through a long second innings, facing 292 balls and hitting 17 fours and four sixes before being stumped for 160.

How the fightback unfolded

Arunachal eventually reached 431 in 120.4 overs in the second innings, setting Manipur a target of 179. Manipur went on to win by four wickets, but the scoreline alone does not capture the shift Doria produced. From a position of a heavy first-innings deficit, Arunachal forced the opposition to bat again and to earn the result, rather than watching the match drift away.

For a team still building its first-class identity, that resistance matters as much as the individual milestone. Long innings in domestic cricket are built on patience, shot selection and the ability to bat through pressure, and Doria showed all three across a marathon stay at the crease.

What the milestone means for Arunachal cricket

Doria is no stranger to breaking new ground for the state. He has been part of the Arunachal setup since its early domestic seasons, and the current Ranji side, led by Neelam Obi, reflects a squad that continues to gain first-class experience season by season. A 160 in the Ranji Trophy gives younger players in that dressing room a clear benchmark: a big score at this level is achievable, and it can change the course of a match even from a difficult position.

The challenge now is consistency. One landmark innings earns attention, but turning such performances into regular totals, and then into results, is the next step for Arunachal cricket. Arunachal’s sporting calendar keeps producing moments that travel beyond the state, and Doria’s innings belongs in that growing list. The task for the team is to make milestones like this the starting point, not the exception.
