The Indian Army has strengthened its support infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh with the inauguration of a modern transit facility for soldiers at Sigar Military Station in East Siang district.
On May 15, the Army unveiled the new facility named ‘Ashiyana’, developed by the Spearhead Gunners under the Spearhead Division. The initiative aims to provide comfortable and efficient rest stops for troops travelling to and from remote forward locations along the sensitive frontier.
Equipped with essential amenities, the transit hub focuses on enhancing troop welfare, morale, and operational efficiency in challenging high-altitude and difficult terrains. Senior military officers present at the inauguration emphasised that such welfare-oriented infrastructure plays a vital role in maintaining high levels of combat readiness while ensuring soldiers receive proper rest during movements.
The facility is expected to significantly improve logistical support for units operating in remote areas. It reflects the Army’s ongoing commitment to balancing operational preparedness with the well-being of its personnel deployed in one of India’s most strategically important regions.
East Siang district, with its rugged Himalayan landscape and proximity to the international border, requires robust support systems for sustained military presence. The new transit point will help reduce fatigue among troops and allow smoother rotations in forward areas.
