Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has constituted two separate probe panels to investigate alleged irregularities in mining activities and the Frontier Highway Project in the state.
Announcing the decision on April 17, APCC president Bosiram Siram said the panels have been formed in response to serious complaints and public concerns regarding large-scale illegal mining and alleged irregularities in the execution of the strategically important Frontier Highway Project.
The Two Probe Panels:
- Mining Irregularities Panel This panel will examine complaints related to illegal mining, environmental violations, and alleged nexus between contractors and officials in various districts.
- Frontier Highway Project Panel This panel will look into allegations of financial irregularities, substandard work, delays, and possible corruption in the construction of the Frontier Highway, a key infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity along the India-China border.
Bosiram Siram stated that both panels have been given clear terms of reference and will submit their detailed reports with recommendations within a stipulated time frame. He said the Congress is committed to ensuring transparency and accountability in governance.
The APCC president appealed to the public and concerned officials to cooperate with the panels and provide necessary information and evidence.
The formation of these probe panels has intensified political debate in the state, with the Congress accusing the ruling BJP government of failing to check corruption and environmental degradation.
The state government is yet to react officially to the Congress move.
