Itanagar Police Arrest AAPBN Personnel in Bullet Gifting Case Within Hours of FIR

Itanagar: In a swift and efficient operation, Itanagar Police arrested an Arunachal Auxiliary Police Battalion (AAPBN) personnel within hours of registering an FIR in a sensational “bullet gifting” case.

The accused, identified as Constable Bomjen Perme, was arrested late on April 17 from the Capital Complex area. He has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act.

According to police sources, the case came to light when a video went viral on social media showing Perme allegedly gifting live bullets as a “souvenir” to someone during a private event. The video sparked widespread outrage, with many questioning the serious breach of discipline and security lapse.

Acting promptly on a complaint, Itanagar Police registered an FIR and launched an immediate investigation. A dedicated team traced and arrested the accused in a matter of hours.

Superintendent of Police, Capital Region, Dr. Nyelam Nega confirmed the arrest and stated that a thorough probe is underway to determine whether more individuals were involved and how the live ammunition was taken out of official custody.

The senior police officer warned that strict action would be taken against any personnel found indulging in such irresponsible and illegal acts. He also appealed to the public not to glorify or share such videos that undermine the image of the security forces.

The incident has raised serious concerns about discipline and accountability within the auxiliary police force in the state capital.
