CM Pema Khandu Calls Nari Shakti Act a Game-Changer for Women’s Empowerment in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has described the Nari Shakti Act as a landmark legislation and a “game-changer” for women’s empowerment in the state.

While addressing a gathering on April 15, CM Khandu said the Act will provide greater political representation and decision-making power to women in Arunachal Pradesh. He expressed confidence that it would bring about meaningful socio-economic transformation by ensuring active participation of women in governance and development processes.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the Nari Shakti Act reserves one-third of seats for women in the state legislative assembly as well as in panchayats and municipal bodies. He stated that this reservation will open new doors for women to take leadership roles and contribute directly to policy-making.

Pema Khandu urged women across the state to make full use of this opportunity and prepare themselves for active participation in the upcoming elections. He assured that the state government would provide necessary training, capacity-building programmes, and support to help women contest and win elections effectively.

He also appealed to all political parties to encourage and field capable women candidates in large numbers so that the true spirit of the Nari Shakti Act is realised.

The Chief Minister’s remarks have been widely welcomed by women’s organisations and social activists, who see the Act as a historic step towards gender equality and inclusive development in Arunachal Pradesh.
