Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Police have arrested a man in connection with a dao (machete) attack that took place in the heart of Itanagar on April 9.
The incident occurred near the Vivekananda Kendra area when the accused, identified as Tage Rinyo (28), a resident of Upper Subansiri district, allegedly attacked a person with a sharp dao following a sudden dispute. The victim sustained injuries and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, a team from Itanagar Police Station traced and arrested the accused within hours. During the search, police recovered the offending dao and the vehicle used by the accused to flee the spot.
A case has been registered against Tage Rinyo under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon. He has been produced before a local court and remanded to judicial custody.
Senior police officials have appealed to the public to maintain peace and avoid taking the law into their own hands. They assured that such incidents will be dealt with strictly to ensure safety in the capital region.
