The Arunachal Pradesh government has carried out a significant administrative overhaul in the state police force, transferring and re-posting 27 senior officers from the Indian Police Service (IPS) and Arunachal Pradesh Police Service (APPS) cadres.
The reshuffle, approved by the Governor on the recommendation of the Police Establishment Board (PEB), aims to strengthen law and order, improve operational efficiency, and enhance coordination across districts and specialised units.
Major Postings in the Reshuffle:
- Chinmoy Biswal appointed as Inspector General of Police (IGP) – Security & Crime
- Joy Tirkey given additional charge as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Headquarters
- Mangesh posted as DIG (TCL)
- Akshat Kausal takes charge as Superintendent of Police (SP), Tirap
- Aditya Singh transferred as SP, Longding
- Shivendu Bhushan posted as SP, East Kameng (earlier SP Crime)
- Sandhya Swamy appointed SP, Kra Daadi
- Pankaj Kumar posted as SP, Dibang Valley
- Swati Singh appointed SP, Pakke Kesang
- Tasi Darang takes over as SP, Tawang
- D W Thungon transferred as SP, West Kameng (earlier SP Tawang)
- Achin Garg posted as SP (Crime)
- Anjitha Chepyala appointed SP (SIT/Cyber Crime)
- Dekio Gumja posted as SP, Special Task Force (STF)
- Sepraj Perme appointed SP (SDRF/Home Guards/Civil Defence)
Several officers have also been assigned as Commanding Officers of different Indian Reserve Battalions (IRBn) and the Arunachal Armed Police Battalion.
Officials described the exercise as a routine yet important step to bring fresh leadership and better administrative balance across the state’s policing structure. The changes are expected to boost efficiency in crime control, border security, cyber policing, and disaster response mechanisms.
This major reshuffle comes at a time when the state is focusing on strengthening internal security and maintaining peace in sensitive and border areas.
