Arunachal: Tezu Gets Its First Private Hospital – Peelomai Tayang Memorial Hospital Inaugurated

In a significant boost to healthcare infrastructure in eastern Arunachal Pradesh, Tezu town welcomed its first-ever private hospital, the Peelomai Tayang Memorial Hospital, which was formally inaugurated on Tuesday. Located opposite the Botanical Garden in Tezu, the facility is poised to serve the people of Lohit and neighbouring Anjaw districts by providing quality medical care closer to home.

The hospital was inaugurated by Dr Mohesh Chai, Advisor to the Health Minister and local MLA of Tezu Assembly Constituency. The inaugural ceremony was attended by dignitaries, community leaders, medical professionals, and local residents.

A Tribute to Public Welfare

The Peelomai Tayang Memorial Hospital has been established by Ojing Pul, son of late former Chief Minister Kalikho Pul, as a heartfelt tribute to the family’s longstanding commitment to public service and welfare. The initiative reflects the Pul family’s continued dedication to the development and well-being of Arunachal Pradesh.

Dignitaries’ Remarks

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mohesh Chai highlighted the hospital’s pivotal role in addressing long-standing healthcare challenges in the region:

“This private hospital will play a crucial role in improving access to quality medical care and will go a long way in meeting the healthcare needs of the people of Lohit and Anjaw districts.”

Both Dr Chai and Ojing Pul expressed optimism that the new facility would set new benchmarks in private healthcare delivery in eastern Arunachal Pradesh, reducing the dependency on distant government hospitals and enabling timely medical intervention for residents.

Significance for the Region

Until now, Tezu and surrounding areas relied primarily on government-run facilities like the District Hospital and limited private clinics. The arrival of a full-fledged private hospital marks a milestone, offering residents enhanced options for diagnostics, treatment, and specialised care without the need to travel to larger cities such as Itanagar, Guwahati, or Dibrugarh.

The establishment of Peelomai Tayang Memorial Hospital is expected to create employment opportunities, attract qualified medical professionals to the region, and contribute to the overall socio-economic development of Lohit and Anjaw districts.

Local residents and community organisations have warmly welcomed the initiative, viewing it as a major step towards a healthier and more self-reliant eastern Arunachal.
