The Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), in collaboration with the Career Counselling & Guidance Cell (CC&GC) of Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNC), Pasighat, successfully organised an extensive outreach and career guidance programme for students at the college’s conference hall.
The event saw active participation from the college administration, faculty, and over 250 students, primarily from the 5th semester of BA, B.Com, and BSc programmes, as well as postgraduate (MA) classes. The interactive session was skilfully moderated by Toku Tada, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry.
Inaugural Session and Welcome
The programme commenced with a welcome address by JNC Principal Dr Tasi Taloh, who urged aspiring candidates to fully utilise the expert guidance provided during the session to shape their future careers.

In his address, Prof. Pradip Lingfa explained the core objectives of APPSC’s statewide outreach initiatives aimed at empowering the youth. He emphasised the critical role of personality development in professional success and shared personal anecdotes from his career journey. Prof. Lingfa encouraged students to explore entrepreneurship as a rewarding alternative or complement to traditional civil services careers.
Jalash Pertin provided a historical perspective on the evolution of administration in Arunachal Pradesh from the NEFA era to the present day. He candidly discussed the real-world challenges faced by officers in administrative services, offered practical tips on effective time management, and shared valuable strategies for confidently facing interview panels.
Col. Koj Tari (Retd) focused on opportunities in the defence sector, highlighting the diverse and prestigious career paths available in the armed forces. He stressed the “3 Ps” – Planning, Preparation, and Practice – as essential for success in any competitive examination. Additionally, he advised students to consider lucrative options in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).

Conclusion and Felicitation
In the vote of thanks, CC&GC Coordinator Nong Tayeng expressed deep gratitude to the APPSC team for their insightful contributions and summarised the key learnings from the session.
The programme concluded with the rendition of the national anthem, followed by a felicitation ceremony. The APPSC team honoured Principal Dr Tasi Taloh, Vice Principal Dr Leki Sitang, CC&GC Coordinator Nong Tayeng, Heads of Departments, and faculty members with traditional mementoes.
Career counselling booklets were distributed to all participating students to serve as ongoing reference material.
Such initiatives by the APPSC and educational institutions like JNC Pasighat play a vital role in bridging the information gap and inspiring the youth of Arunachal Pradesh to pursue competitive careers with confidence and clarity.
