In a triumphant display of grit and determination, Basanti Thriju has emerged as Arunachal Pradesh’s undisputed powerhouse, clinching the gold medal and the prestigious “Strongest Woman of Arunachal Pradesh” accolade at the 6th World Powerlifting Congress (WPC) State Championship. Her stellar performance not only etched her name in the annals of local sports history but also ignited a beacon of empowerment for women venturing into the demanding realm of competitive strength training.

Under the expert guidance of seasoned coach Norbu Lama, Thriju’s commanding lifts captivated spectators and fellow competitors alike, showcasing the raw potential of Arunachal’s emerging talents. Representing Team Tawang, her victory underscored the squad’s unbreakable camaraderie and relentless preparation, turning the event into a showcase of collective excellence that resonated far beyond the competition floor.

Hosted by the Arunachal World Powerlifting Congress, the championship drew fierce rivalry from athletes hailing from diverse districts including Papumpare, West Kameng, East Kameng, Keyi Panyor, Lower Subansiri, Upper Subansiri, Namsai, West Siang, and Lepa Rada. The electrifying showdown kicked off with an inspiring ribbon-cutting by Lokam Anand, Corporator of Ward No. 1, alongside entrepreneur Biki Punung as the distinguished guest of honor. What followed was a marathon of high-stakes battles that pulsed with adrenaline well into the night, culminating in a jubilant awards gala graced by Ritemso Manyu, State BJP Secretary, and Amit Kumar Pandey, Joint Treasurer of the State BJP Office.
