Papu Hills Police Nab Two in Major Drug Bust in Arunachal Pradesh

In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Papu Hills Police in Arunachal Pradesh arrested two suspected drug peddlers and seized 55.05 grams of suspected heroin during a coordinated operation in the Borum-Doimukh area. The raid, conducted under the ongoing anti-drug initiative Operation Dawn 2.0, highlights the state’s intensified efforts to combat the drug menace.

Acting on reliable intelligence, a police team led by SDPO Naharlagun Rishi Longdo, with Inspectors Torum Mai and Bobby Sumyan, apprehended Soriful Islam, 41, near Borum Bridge. Following his interrogation, a subsequent raid in Doimukh led to the arrest of Techi Bharat, 26, identified as the alleged primary supplier. The operation, supervised by SP ICR Naharlagun Mihin Gambo, resulted in the recovery of 39 vials containing the suspected heroin.

A case has been registered at Papu Hills Police Station under the NDPS Act, and both suspects are in custody as investigations continue to uncover further links in the drug network. SP Gambo commended the team’s swift action, reaffirming the police’s commitment to eradicating drug trafficking in the region. This bust marks another success for Operation Dawn 2.0, signaling a robust stance against narcotics in Arunachal Pradesh.
