Banderdewa Police Thwart Interstate Drug Smuggling, Arrest Five in Twin Operations

Banderdewa, Arunachal Pradesh: In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Banderdewa Police arrested five individuals in two separate operations, seizing substantial quantities of suspected heroin. The raids, conducted under Operation Dawn, targeted interstate drug smuggling networks operating in the region.

In the first operation, acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Inspector Kipa Hamak intercepted a vehicle at Karsingsa, apprehending three suspects identified as Mintu Ali, Anuwarul Islam, and Nabam Taga. A search revealed 24 vials of suspected heroin weighing approximately 151 grams, concealed in the vehicle. The trio, hailing from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, was charged under the NDPS Act.

The second operation saw police raid Niya Colony, Banderdewa, arresting two women, Ampi Tanti and Anu Begum, both from Assam. Authorities recovered 10 vials containing 70 grams of suspected heroin hidden in a soap case. SP Mihin Gambo praised the team’s swift action, emphasizing the police’s commitment to curbing the drug menace in the capital region.

Cases have been registered at Banderdewa Police Station, and investigations are ongoing to dismantle the broader supply chain. The operations highlight the persistent challenge of interstate drug trafficking and the police’s resolve to protect local communities.
