The North Eastern Council (NEC) has released ₹42.63 crore for development projects across the North Eastern Region, with Nagaland receiving the largest share among the states at ₹11.92 crore.
Of the total release, ₹35.21 crore has been allocated to the North Eastern states, while ₹7.42 crore has gone to regional institutions and agencies for capacity building, infrastructure and technology initiatives.
Where the Money Is Going
Nagaland’s allocation will support cluster-based coffee value chain development and the construction of a cultural activity complex at Pfutseromi village for the Chakhesang community. Mizoram received ₹6.29 crore, Assam ₹4.42 crore, Sikkim ₹4.17 crore and Arunachal Pradesh ₹3.40 crore, while Tripura and Manipur also received instalments for ongoing development projects. Among the regional institutions, the NECBDC received ₹2.88 crore for bamboo artisan clusters, the NEHHDC ₹2.35 crore for handloom skill development, and NECTAR ₹1.24 crore for STEM laboratories in remote schools.
14 Projects Completed and Closed
The council also recorded the completion and closure of 14 major infrastructure projects worth ₹45.48 crore during the same period, spanning education, culture, agriculture, skills, tourism and community development across the region. The closures indicate steady progress in the council’s project pipeline across the eight North Eastern states.
Part of the DoNER Push
The releases form part of the NEC’s continuing efforts under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region to strengthen infrastructure, employment opportunities and development across the Northeast. The council remains the key regional planning body channelling central funds into state-specific and region-wide development programmes.
