Naharlagun Police Investigate Irregularities in APPSCCE Prelims

Police in Naharlagun, Arunachal Pradesh, have launched an investigation into alleged malpractice during the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Combined Competitive Examination (APPSCCE). The investigation stems from two distinct incidents: the discovery of a mobile phone in the possession of a candidate and the disappearance of an OMR answer sheet.

The Naharlagun Superintendent of Police’s office has formally registered two separate cases related to the alleged use of unfair means during the APPSCCE Preliminary Examination 2024.

The first case originated from a complaint filed by the Centre Superintendent of Kendriya Vidyalaya, C-Sector, Naharlagun. A mobile phone was discovered in the possession of a PWD candidate, Ms. Mudang Yabyang, within the examination hall during the test. The phone was confiscated as evidence, and Ms. Yabyang provided a statement before being released with instructions to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.

A separate incident involved the disappearance of an OMR sheet (Roll No. 110069) belonging to candidate Binam Teng, as reported by the Centre Superintendent of Government Higher Secondary School, G-Sector, Naharlagun. Subsequent investigation led to the recovery of the missing OMR sheet from Mr. Teng, who confessed to inadvertently taking it home.

Police officials have affirmed their commitment to conducting comprehensive investigations into both incidents to safeguard the integrity of the examination process. Further actions will be determined based on the outcomes of these investigations.

The APPSCCE holds significant importance for individuals aspiring to civil service positions in Arunachal Pradesh. Authorities have reaffirmed their dedication to upholding transparency and fairness throughout the examination process.
