Naharlagun Police have pulled off a significant breakthrough in their ongoing probe into a string of theft cases that had been rattling residents across Naharlagun, Banderdewa, Nirjuli and surrounding areas. The recovered items — 12 two-wheelers along with gold and silver ornaments and other suspected stolen articles — were seized following coordinated raids carried out across multiple locations in both Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. The scale of the operation tells you something: this wasn’t a small-time job they were dealing with.

The investigation was spearheaded by Inspector K. Dev, Officer-in-Charge of Naharlagun Police Station, supported by a six-member team including Sub-Inspector V. Linggi, Head Constable T. Kochi, Constables T. Dawa and Sanu Raj T, and Lady Constable J. Sorang. The whole operation was supervised by SDPO Rishi Longdo. The case is registered as Naharlagun PS Case No. 84/2026 under Section 305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. It’s the kind of teamwork that rarely makes headlines — but absolutely should.
What Exactly Did They Find?
The recovered two-wheelers are a telling mix of popular models — several TVS Ntorq scooters, an Aprilia SR 125, Yamaha FZ, Yamaha R15, Hero Xoom 125 ZX, Hero Maestro Edge ZX, Yamaha Ray ZR, Yamaha Cygnus Ray Z, and a few others. Some carried registration numbers like AR 01M 8202, AR 01W 3632, AS 12R 8608 and more, while several came in without plates — always a red flag. On top of the bikes, investigators recovered two silver chains, two gold chains, one gold ring, a battery, a pump, and a Realme mobile phone. Bit of everything, really.

Superintendent of Police, ICR Naharlagun, Dr Nyelam Nega, personally praised the team’s efforts and made it clear — this isn’t over. The investigation is actively ongoing, and police have signalled that more recoveries are likely as they continue tracing the stolen property trail.
