The Department of Health and Family Welfare issued an order on July 27, 2026, transferring nine specialist doctors to various district hospitals and community health centres across the state — with immediate effect. Plugging the Gaps Where It Hurts Most
The doctors being reshuffled come from some of the most critical departments in any hospital — Paediatrics, Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Pathology. When a pregnant woman arrives at a district hospital in a remote valley, or a sick child needs urgent care, the absence of the right specialist isn’t just an inconvenience — it can be life-altering. Dr. Martum Jokik heads from Koloriang all the way to the Community Health Centre at Chowkham. Dr. Rita Mena leaves Anini for the Zonal General Hospital at Tezu — a posting that will significantly boost specialist availability there, as Dr. Kago Aring also arrives at Tezu from Ziro’s General Tadar Zonal General Hospital.

Dr. Surat Nabam heads to the Urban Community Health Centre at Itafort. And Dr. Nang Neeta travels from Aalo’s Zonal General Hospital to Namsai’s District Hospital.
