Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K.T. Parnaik (Retd) has urged young people to lead with composure and determination, telling students that a good leader remains calm on the outside while maintaining intensity and resolve within. The Governor was speaking at the concluding function of a state-level youth leadership camp for students of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya at Balijan.
The camp, titled “Spread Your Wings”, was organised by the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Arunachal Pradesh Trust. Addressing the students, the Governor said effective communication was one of the most important qualities of good leadership, and advised them to cultivate the habits of reading and writing to broaden knowledge, enrich vocabulary and sharpen thinking.
Reading, Writing and Clear Expression
Parnaik advised students that reading and writing practices improve the ability to express ideas with clarity and confidence. He said leaders must be perceptive, analytical and proactive in identifying challenges, assessing situations and finding practical solutions, and encouraged students to learn from experience, anticipate challenges and take timely, responsible decisions.
He also stressed problem-solving as a defining quality of leadership, saying that calm under pressure, clarity of purpose and unwavering determination were essential for young people seeking to serve their communities.
Values for Young Leaders
The Governor advised students to imbibe core values including integrity, trust, commitment to a cause, modesty, courage, ownership and conviction. He said such values, combined with steady effort, would help students grow into leaders capable of guiding Arunachal Pradesh in the years ahead.
Youth programmes of this kind form part of a wider effort to build confidence and civic awareness among students across the state, alongside sporting and cultural events that bring young people together. The Tawang Marathon recently drew thousands of runners to the high-altitude town, while a handloom showcase in Itanagar celebrated Northeast craft heritage.
