Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona on April 18 became one of the first prominent public figures in the state to complete his Self-Enumeration for the upcoming Census 2027.
The Speaker performed the self-enumeration process through the official Census portal (census.gov.in) from his official residence in Itanagar. He described the digital initiative as a “citizen-friendly and convenient” step introduced by the Government of India.
Speaking after completing the process, Pasang Dorjee Sona appealed to all citizens of Arunachal Pradesh to actively participate in the Self-Enumeration phase, which began on April 16 and will continue till May 31, 2026.
“I urge every individual and family in Arunachal Pradesh to take advantage of this facility and complete their self-enumeration at the earliest. Your participation will help in building an accurate database for future planning and development of our state,” the Speaker said.
He highlighted that self-enumeration allows one person to fill the form for the entire household using their mobile number or Aadhaar. After successful submission, a reference number is generated which will be required during the subsequent field enumeration phase starting June 1, 2026.
The Speaker also directed all Assembly staff and urged MLAs to encourage people in their respective constituencies to complete the process on time.
This initiative by the Speaker is expected to create greater awareness and encourage wider participation in the first phase of Census 2027 across the state.
