Cricket is Back and Arunachal’s Young Stars Are Ready — The Sixth Edition Is Here

August 17, 2026 by Naitik Pathak
# Cricket is Back and Arunachal's Young Stars Are Ready — The Sixth Edition Is Here **The bat has met the ball again at Jollang, and this time, the stakes feel higher than ever.** The Arunachal Club T20 Championship is back for its sixth edition, and if the buzz around the AIOC ground in Jollang, Itanagar is anything to go by, this year's tournament could be the biggest one yet. Organised by the Itanagar Cricket Club (ICC), the 2026–27 edition kicked off with an opening ceremony that drew political attention, community pride, and the raw energy of young players hungry to prove themselves. --- **A Launch That Felt Like More Than Just Cricket** Aalo West MLA Topin Ete graced the occasion as chief guest, with Teli Pada Camdir attending as guest of honour. Ete didn't just show up for formalities — he acknowledged what this tournament actually means for Arunachal's youth. He praised the organisers for giving young cricketers a proper platform to grow, and specifically called out ICC president Advocate Suraj Tayam for his consistent efforts to nurture grassroots talent in the state. That kind of recognition, coming from an elected representative, tells you something about how seriously this tournament is being taken. --- **Nine Teams, One Ground, Hundreds of Dreams** This edition features nine regional teams competing against each other, including Nirjuli Cricket Club and the Donyi Polo Cricket Academy. The squads bring together players from Itanagar, Nirjuli, Seppa, Aalo, and various corners of Arunachal Pradesh — a beautiful mix that reflects the state's geographic diversity. There's something special about watching a kid from Seppa share a pitch with someone from Aalo. These aren't just matches. They're connections being built across districts. --- **What the Tournament Is Really About** Yes, it's about cricket. But look closer and you'll see the bigger picture. The championship is designed to promote competitive play, identify promising players who might otherwise go unnoticed, encourage sportsmanship, and — perhaps most importantly — strengthen the foundation of cricket in Arunachal Pradesh. For young players, it's also a rare chance to test themselves against established regional talent and gain visibility they simply can't get anywhere else in the state. --- **A Ripple Effect Bigger Than Cricket** Since its very first edition, this championship has quietly done something remarkable — it has made cricket a real career conversation in Arunachal. And its influence has rippled outward. The success of this tournament is widely credited with inspiring the rise of franchise-based competitions in several other sports across the state. Young people in Arunachal aren't just watching organised sports anymore. They want to be part of them. That shift in attitude — that is the tournament's greatest legacy. Six editions in, the Arunachal Club T20 Championship has proven it's not a flash in the pan. It's a movement. And if the passion on display at Jollang this year is any indication, the seventh edition can't come soon enough. --- --- **② ARTICLE TAGS** Arunachal Pradesh, Club T20 Championship, Itanagar Cricket Club, cricket Arunachal, grassroots cricket, AIOC ground, Jollang Itanagar, Topin Ete, Suraj Tayam, Nirjuli Cricket Club, Donyi Polo Cricket Academy, Arunachal sports, T20 cricket, ICC Itanagar, cricket tournament, Northeast India cricket, youth cricket, Arunachal news, sports news, cricket 2026, Aalo West MLA, regional cricket, Northeast sports, cricket development, Arunachal youth, emerging cricketers, competitive cricket, sports tournament Arunachal --- **④ SOCIAL MEDIA HASHTAGS** #ArunachalCricket #ClubT20Championship #ItanagarCricketClub #ArunachalPradesh #GrassrootsCricket #T20Cricket #NortheastCricket #ArunachalSports #CricketIndia #YouthCricket #JollangGround #TopinEte #SurajTayam #DonyiPoloCricket #NirjuliCricketClub #CricketTournament #NortheastIndia #ArunachalNews #EmergingCricketers #AbotaniTV

Disease is Spreading. The Government is Finally Moving — FMD Outbreak Hits Dibang Valley Hard

August 17, 2026

Here is the full article for Abotani TV: --- # Disease is Spreading. The Government is Finally Moving — FMD Outbreak Hits Dibang Valley Hard A feared livestock disease has made its way into one of Arunachal Pradesh's most remote valleys — and right now, government teams are in a race against time to stop it from spreading further. **The Outbreak That Shook Dibang Valley** Foot and Mouth Disease — commonly known as FMD — has broken out among livestock in Dibang Valley, triggering an urgent, multi-agency response that has brought both state and central government teams into the field. Joint teams of the Centre and Arunachal Pradesh government intensified containment measures following the outbreak among livestock in Dibang Valley, officials confirmed on Sunday, August 16. For communities whose lives and livelihoods depend entirely on their animals — especially Mithuns — this is not just a health crisis. It is a threat to everything they have. **Boots on the Ground — Who's Doing What** The response has been anything but slow on paper. The containment operation involves the State Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Rapid Response Teams (RRTs), the district administration, and a visiting central team, focused on treatment, surveillance, sample collection and disease control. According to District Veterinary Officer Dr D Riba, an RRT from Itanagar reached Anini on August 8 with medicines and supplies, after which three dedicated RRTs were constituted and deployed across affected areas. That's a fairly quick mobilisation for a district as geographically challenging as Dibang Valley, where roads and terrain can make urgency feel like a distant luxury. **Central Team Goes Deep Into the Field** A central team led by Joint Commissioner Dr VK Teotia arrived in the district on August 13 and conducted field assessments on August 14 and 15 in Acheso, Angrim Valley, Aropo up to Chegu Camp, Mipi Circle, Maro, 9 Kilo and Matu Camp. During these visits, the team did not just tick boxes — infected animals were treated, medicines distributed and diagnostic samples collected from Mithuns, pigs and goats, while post-mortem examinations were also conducted. They also visited an Indo-Tibetan Border Police camp at Acheso, where blood samples were collected from goats and personnel were briefed on disease epidemiology, biosecurity measures and public health safeguards. **Local Leaders Step Up** It is worth noting that this response has not been purely bureaucratic. Anini MLA Mopi Mihu provided medicines and logistical support to the containment operation and assured administrative assistance to protect the livelihoods of farmers and Mithun owners. Dibang Valley Zilla Parishad Chairperson Sadhu Mihu and Acheso-Angrim Valley ZP Member Eta Mihu also accompanied the experts during field surveys. That kind of on-ground political presence actually matters in a region where trust between communities and officials can make or break a public health response. **What Comes Next** The central team departed Anini on Sunday with collected samples and specimens for advanced laboratory examination. The RRTs, however, are staying put. Dr Riba confirmed that the RRTs would remain stationed in the district until the outbreak is fully contained, with additional teams to be deployed if required. Authorities have also reminded the public that FMD vaccination is administered twice a year and remains the primary measure to prevent the spread of the disease, urging livestock and Mithun owners to cooperate with vaccination drives, promptly report suspected infections and follow recommended biosecurity and animal-waste disposal practices. The animals cannot ask for help. The communities depending on them can — and right now, those communities need every vaccination, every team, and every government commitment to actually follow through. --- ② **ARTICLE TAGS** FMD outbreak, Dibang Valley, Arunachal Pradesh, foot and mouth disease, livestock disease, Mithun owners, Anini, animal husbandry, rapid response team, Dr VK Teotia, Dr D Riba, veterinary department, FMD containment, disease control, Arunachal livestock, biosecurity, FMD vaccination, Mopi Mihu, central team Arunachal, animal health, Acheso, Angrim Valley, ITBP camp, Dibang Valley news, zilla parishad, field assessment, sample collection, northeast India --- ④ **SOCIAL MEDIA HASHTAGS** #DibangValley #FMDOutbreak #ArunachalPradesh #FootAndMouthDisease #MithunOwners #AnimalHealth #Anini #LivestockDisease #ArunachalNews #AbotaniTV #DibangValleyNews #NortheastIndia #VeterinaryDepartment #FMDVaccination #Biosecurity #RapidResponseTeam #ArunachalLivestock #AnimalHusbandry #MithunHerders #DiseaseCrisis
