Arunachal Pradesh Launches First-Ever GI Mahotsav in New Delhi, Set to Become Annual Event

New Delhi, March 1, 2025 – Arunachal Pradesh made a vibrant mark in the national capital today with the launch of its first-ever GI Mahotsav, a festival celebrating the state’s unique cultural heritage and products recognized with Geographical Indication (GI) tags. Chief Minister Pema Khandu officially inaugurated the event, declaring it a permanent fixture in the state’s annual calendar.

The GI Mahotsav, held at a prominent venue in New Delhi, showcased Arunachal’s rich traditions, exceptional indigenous craftsmanship, and distinctive agricultural produce, aiming to bring these treasures to a broader audience. From handwoven textiles to rare organic crops, the festival highlighted the state’s diverse offerings, blending tradition with economic potential.
