Rajya Sabha MP Tai Tagak has voiced deep concern over the recent flash floods and landslides in Arunachal Pradesh, pledging solidarity with impacted communities while pressing authorities for accelerated relief, rehabilitation, and infrastructure recovery in the affected regions.
MP Highlights Devastation in Yazali and Keyi Panyor
The devastating weather event struck Yazali and surrounding areas in Keyi Panyor district, severely damaging multiple stretches of National Highway-13, especially the critical Hoj–Yazali corridor. The floods also caused extensive destruction at the NEEPCO settlement in Possa, displacing several families and disrupting normal life.
Acknowledgment of Rescue Efforts and Safety Appeals
Tagak commended the prompt response by the district administration, police, disaster management teams, and local leaders in conducting rescue and relief operations. He called for sustained monitoring of vulnerable zones to ensure timely assistance reaches every affected resident.
The MP specifically urged people living along the Panyor River to stay alert and exercise caution due to ongoing weather risks. He advised against non-essential travel on the Hoj–Potin road until authorities confirm it is safe.
Condolences and Call for Intensified Action
Expressing heartfelt condolences over the tragic death of Nirmala Gupta, a teacher at VKV NEEPCO, Tagak emphasized the need for stepped-up search operations to trace the remaining missing persons. He stressed the urgency of fast-tracking relief distribution, rehabilitation programs, and long-term restoration of damaged infrastructure.
Tagak appealed to citizens across Arunachal Pradesh to remain vigilant, adhere to official advisories, and cooperate fully with government agencies as the monsoon continues to pose threats of heavy rainfall and landslides.
