The Nah Welfare Society (NWS), a community-based organisation from Taksing in Upper Subansiri district, has submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner alleging that the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has established camps inside Indian territory near the border.

Detailed Allegations of Encroachment

In a letter dated June 26, the society claimed that the PLA has gradually expanded its presence over the past 10–15 years by occupying areas along the border in the Taksing circle. It alleged that roads, bridges, and military installations have been constructed in locations traditionally used by local communities for hunting, grazing livestock, and collecting forest produce.

The memorandum specifically highlighted five locations—Oying, Paniar (Chujarta area), Marpan (Marnafe), Potrang Lake, and Tindingtang (TG)—as allegedly occupied since 2020. These sites are reportedly close to Taksing headquarters and hold cultural and religious significance for local communities.

Call for Stronger Action

The Nah Welfare Society urged both the Arunachal Pradesh government and the Union Government to take immediate steps to halt further Chinese activities in the area. While expressing confidence in the Indian Army’s role in safeguarding the frontier, the organisation called for stronger intervention to protect what it described as Indian territory.

The letter also requested the district administration to raise the issue with higher authorities and enclosed photographs to substantiate the claims.

This development has drawn significant attention to the situation along the sensitive India-China border in Upper Subansiri district.
