Security personnel in Arunachal Pradesh have successfully dismantled a key supply line for the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I), resulting in the detention of four individuals in a coordinated raid close to the Myanmar border. This initiative targets the group’s operational backbone, aiming to curb insurgent operations and safeguard border stability.
The raid unfolded in Nampong, a town in Changlang district, where three locals and one foreign national were taken into custody. Acting on solid tips, forces uncovered a scheme involving ULFA-I’s self-proclaimed SS Major General Arunodoi Dohutia, who reportedly solicited essential items like medicines from a contact in Tinsukia, Assam. The joint effort, spearheaded by the Additional Superintendent of Police Headquarters alongside Arunachal Pradesh Police and Indian Army units, intercepted the illicit transfer.
Those nabbed include Jitu Moran, alias Moina, aged 50 from Hukani Gaon in Bordubi; Julie Gogoi, 38, proprietor of a long-standing grocery outlet in Nampong; her spouse Dipak Gogoi, 52, both hailing from Parbatipur in Jagun; and Yanshay Sokrang from Pangsau in Myanmar. Separately, four Myanmar citizens were held for suspected involvement in ferrying supplies to ULFA-I hideouts across the international line.
The haul comprised a significant stockpile of pharmaceuticals and vital provisions, underscoring the sophisticated smuggling routes employed by the militants. Law enforcement emphasized that such interventions form a critical component of broader strategies to dismantle ULFA-I’s infrastructure and block the influx of prohibited materials into sensitive zones.
