Tezu, Arunachal Pradesh: A two-month skill development program on computerized knitting machines was inaugurated at the District Textile and Handicrafts (DDTH) Office Complex in Tezu, aimed at empowering local artisans. The initiative, designed to enhance craftsmanship and promote self-reliance, was launched with Dr. Mohesh Chai, local MLA, as the chief guest and SP Thutan Jamba as the guest of honor.
Dr. Chai emphasized the program’s role in equipping artisans with modern techniques to improve productivity and market competitiveness. He encouraged participants to leverage the training for sustainable livelihoods, highlighting the state’s commitment to preserving traditional crafts while embracing innovation.
SP Jamba praised the initiative for fostering economic independence, particularly among women artisans, and urged trainees to apply their skills to create high-quality products. The program, supported by the Department of Textile and Handicrafts, is expected to benefit numerous local weavers by providing access to advanced tools and techniques, strengthening the region’s handloom and handicraft sector.
