Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh – On March 18, 2025, the residents of Bodak village in East Siang district took a significant step toward transforming their community into a floral paradise by planting over 300 saplings. This ambitious initiative, part of the Eco-Clean Mebo Mission (ECMM), aims to enhance the village’s aesthetic appeal and establish it as a future eco-tourism hotspot.
The plantation drive, executed under the ‘Pun:lek’ mission—meaning “group of flowers” in the local dialect—saw active participation from Bodak’s households and members of the Megu Welfare Society (MWS). More than 30 species of ornamental and flowering plants were strategically planted across the village and along a 2-kilometer stretch leading to the Trans-Arunachal Highway. The effort reflects a collective vision to create a vibrant, green landscape that could draw visitors to the Mebo Sub-Division.
Local leaders, including MWS President Ganpang Megu, General Secretary Ojing Megu, and Bodak Welfare Society’s Mido Tayeng, spearheaded the project. Their dedication was echoed by Mebo MLA Oken Tayeng, who has previously highlighted Bodak’s potential in the Arunachal Pradesh State Assembly. The initiative aligns with broader efforts by the Mebo civil administration to promote sustainable development and beautification in the region.
Nestled amidst scenic mountain slopes, Bodak is poised to become a standout destination, blending natural beauty with community-driven conservation. The plantation not only promises an ecological uplift but also aims to foster a sense of pride and unity among residents. With continued support, the village hopes to bloom into a floral haven, setting a precedent for environmental stewardship in Arunachal Pradesh.
