Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region and Communications, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, is on a two-day development-focused visit to Mizoram, marking his second trip to the state in his current role.
The visit underlines the Centre’s continuing commitment to the development of the North Eastern Region, youth empowerment and closer coordination with stakeholders across the region.
Project Launches and Student Outreach
Scindia arrived in Aizawl and visited Tuivamit, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various projects — described by officials as an important step toward strengthening development initiatives in Mizoram.
The minister also visited Mizoram University, where he interacted with students and youth participating in the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region’s ‘Ashtalakshmi Darshan Programme’, alongside representatives of social organisations.
North East Bankers’ Conclave 3.0
On the second day of the visit, Scindia returns to Mizoram University to inaugurate and deliver the keynote address at the North East Bankers’ Conclave 3.0. The conclave focuses on promoting financial inclusion in the Northeast, improving access to credit, and positioning the banking sector as a key partner in accelerating economic growth across the region.
The minister is also scheduled to interact with representatives of the banking sector during the conclave. Officials say the engagement reflects a push to deepen financial services in the hill states, where credit penetration has historically lagged the national average.
Scindia’s itinerary signals a continued emphasis on linking the Northeast’s development agenda with national financial and communications infrastructure.
