Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh is preparing to showcase its natural beauty, culture and hospitality to a global audience through the 14th International Tourism Mart (ITM), scheduled in Tawang from October 27 to November 1.
Tourism Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona reviewed preparations for the event with representatives of the Union Ministry of Tourism, the state tourism department and officials from Tawang and West Kameng districts.
Full preparedness stressed
“We have to be fully prepared to welcome our guests and present the best of the state to the world,” Sona said, stressing close coordination among departments and stakeholders. He said preparations must go beyond the main venue to cover the entire visitor experience — accommodation, transportation, logistics, protocol and hospitality.
20 countries expected
The 14th ITM is being jointly organised by the Union Ministry of Tourism and the Arunachal Pradesh government. Delegates from around 20 countries are expected to attend.
The annual mart is a Union Tourism Ministry initiative to showcase the Northeast’s tourism potential to domestic and international audiences, bringing together tour operators, buyers, sellers, media and government agencies from India and abroad.
Tawang’s moment
For Tawang, hosting the event is a chance to present its mountain landscapes, Buddhist heritage and Monpa culture to the world. The district is home to the historic Tawang Monastery and attractions including Sela Pass, Nuranang Falls and high-altitude lakes. The mart returns to Tawang after more than a decade — it was last hosted there in 2013.
