Someone’s stolen luxury sedan from Delhi-NCR ended up parked in a driveway in Arunachal Pradesh. That’s how far these networks were willing to go.
A Racket Stretching from Delhi to the Hills
Police in Kra Daadi district cracked open a high-end vehicle theft syndicate this week, and the scale of it is honestly a bit staggering. A Special Investigation Team led by DySP Mape Zirdo tracked down the operation, and Superintendent of Police Sepraj Perme confirmed that 15 stolen luxury vehicles were recovered in the process. Four men — Zahangir Alam, Mojhibur Rahman, Mohammad Sablu, and Md Gargantuan Ali, all from Assam — were arrested. Alam, nabbed in Barpeta, is being called the kingpin of the whole operation. What’s striking is the distance involved. These weren’t local pickups. Investigators say the gang lifted luxury cars from the Delhi-NCR region and hauled them all the way to Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland to sell off. Some buyers apparently had no idea they were purchasing stolen property, which says something about how well these networks can disguise a hot car as a legitimate deal.
A Second Ring, This Time Involving Teenagers
While that case was unfolding, Itanagar police were untangling a completely different theft network — one built around scooters and, disturbingly, minors. It all started with a single scooter stolen from Zoo Road in Itanagar, which led to a case being filed at Chimpu Police Station. Naka checking and patrols eventually caught a minor riding a suspected stolen scooter, and once questioned, he reportedly opened up about his own involvement and pointed police toward others in the group.
Following the Trail Into Assam
From there, things moved fast. A team under Chimpu OC Inspector N Nishant recovered five stolen scooters from Gohpur in Assam, while another unit led by SI Taba Tate seized four TVS NTORQ scooters from Ganga village, now being checked against ownership records. Four Children in Conflict with Law have been apprehended so far. The early picture suggests these teenagers were stealing two-wheelers around the Itanagar Capital Region and moving them across the border into Assam to sell — a smaller-scale operation than the car racket, sure, but no less organized.
What Happens Next
The car theft case has already been chargesheeted, so that chapter is more or less closed on the legal front. The scooter network is a different story — police are still verifying ownership on the recovered bikes and checking whether this group’s fingerprints show up on other unsolved thefts in the region.
A Reminder Worth Sitting With
Twenty-five vehicles, eight people, two states, and four kids caught in the middle of it. It’s a solid week of police work, no doubt. But it’s also a quiet warning about how easily a stolen car changes hands when nobody’s asking the right questions before buying.
