Fresh claims of a face-off between the Indian Army and China’s People’s Liberation Army have emerged from the Taksing Circle in Upper Subansiri district — and this time, the visuals doing the rounds on social media are harder to simply brush aside.
What the Visuals Show — And What They Don’t
The images and video clips, reportedly timestamped July 26, 2026, are being widely shared across platforms. Some local sources suggest the confrontation may have actually started a day earlier, around July 25. Nobody has verified the exact sequence of events. What’s clear is that the footage has reignited deep anxiety among border communities — communities that have been raising alarms for months now. These are not strangers to tension. They live it.
A Region Already on Edge
This latest episode doesn’t come out of nowhere. In recent weeks, there has been growing controversy over alleged Chinese activity near several locations — Taksing, Maza, Galemu, Potrang Lake, Tama Chuchu, Galen Sinyik and Shreechu Valley — all sitting close to Asaphila, an area that remains under PLA control. The Nah Welfare Society had already raised a red flag earlier, alleging that China had built roads, bridges, and military camps on land that local villagers have traditionally used for grazing and collecting forest produce. But here’s the uncomfortable truth — when the government keeps denying and fresh visuals keep emerging, it becomes increasingly difficult for border residents to feel reassured. A Public Leader Demands Answers
Ajay Murtem, a public leader from Kamle district, has written an open letter to Arunachal Pradesh’s Chief Minister, urging the state government to conduct a proper ground-level assessment of the reported locations. He has called for coordinated verification involving the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Indian Army, and the ITBP, and demanded an official public statement to cut through the noise. He has also pushed for stronger border surveillance and confidence-building measures for frontier communities.
As of now, authorities have neither confirmed nor denied the authenticity of the latest visuals. But silence, in a situation like this, has never once felt like safety.
