The Papum Pare district administration has issued an urgent travel advisory following multiple landslides that have completely blocked key highway stretches in Arunachal Pradesh. These disruptions, triggered by continuous rainfall and flash floods, have severely impacted connectivity to several western districts.

Affected Road Stretches and Causes

According to the advisory released by Additional District Magistrate Kipa Raja from Sagalee, the NH-13 stretch between Sagalee and Hoj Junction Point, along with the NH-713A between Potin and the Dakte-Hoj bridge point, remain blocked at several locations due to overnight landslides on June 24.

Officials attribute the blocks to persistent heavy rainfall and resulting flash floods that destabilized the slopes in the region.

Restoration Efforts Underway

Clearance operations are progressing on a priority basis. Restoration on NH-13 is being handled by SUSHEE Infra & Mining Ltd, while the Ziro Highway Division of the Public Works Department (PWD) is working on the NH-713A section. However, authorities have noted that the timeline for full restoration remains uncertain given the extent of damage and ongoing adverse weather conditions.

Public Advisory and Safety Measures

Commuters and travelers heading to or from East Kameng, Pakke Kessang, West Kameng, and Tawang districts have been strongly advised to avoid the affected stretches entirely, both during day and night hours, until further notice. The advisory is expected to remain in effect at least until the morning of June 25, when road conditions will be reassessed.

Emergency contact numbers for concerned officials and engineers have been shared to assist the public. Residents are urged to stay updated through official channels and prioritize safety during the active monsoon season.

This latest disruption adds to the broader challenges posed by monsoon-related incidents across Arunachal Pradesh, including flash floods and landslides affecting transportation and daily life in multiple districts.
