

The Abotani Tv family hereby extend hearty congratulations to Dr. Tony Koyu ji on being nominated for
“LUMINOUS LUMMER DAI LITERARY AWARD g2026” being the lone literary award recognised by the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh as announced by President of Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society, Mr. Yeshe Dorji Thongchi ‘Sahitya Academy Awardee’. The award function has been scheduled to take place on 12th June 2026 at Pasighat
Apart from being Arunachalee Legendary Singer and Lyricist in Galo language, Dr. Koyu is also a great literary figure of our state.
He is the inventor of Indigenous script named Tanilipi and since the year 2000 he has been publishing Tani language books(Galo & Adi) written in Tanilipi. He has authored 2 sensual Novels namely “Alv lvkw lo doomv” and “Yabur” (both in Galo and Adi) and “Ormen” a Scripture on Donyipolo faith in Galo language. He said that writing mother tongue books is really tough as we don’t have any written script in Tani language or (any Tani descendant’s mother tongue)and Tani language was never a part of academic curriculum in school and college due to oral traditions. Absence of a suitable indigenous script to write tribal language including Tani language is one of the formidable factors that many tribal language are on the verge of going into oblivion.


It is really praiseworthy that Dr. Koyu has devoted his prime time of life to development of a new script which encompasses is the pride and identity of Arunachal Pradesh especially the Tani group.
Dr Koyu has also further informed that he has authored two more novels in Hindi and English namely “Badal Mere Kadmo me” in Hindi and “Aroma in Wilderness” besides written a short story book in English on heroic deed of “Ato Bogum” namely “Ato Bogum” the legendary Hero of Tani group.
He expressed gratitude t the “Chatiner” with German Technology that published such a good and superb quality
books. Dr. Koyu apprised that in Arunachal Pradesh se have nearly 6lakh Tani descendants and in Assam more than 7lakh in total we have 14 lakh Tani population in North Eastern Region hence there is best prospect of Tani language with Tanilipi that every one should understand.
Dr. Koyu is also the recipient of.several honours including “Bharat Jyoti Award”, “Sanskar Bharati Award” and “Penguine Publication Award” and many more.



The Galo Welfare Society also in its Silver Jubilee Celebration 2025 at Paya Aalo had recognised his outstanding contribution in the invention of Tani language and promotion of tribal literature by a citation and a memento.
The All Arunachal Pradesh Donyipolo Kargugamgi Council HQ Aalo in its conference had given due recognition to his hard work to found the Kargugamgi movement for preservation of Galo Indigenous faith and culture.
The award shall be presented to him on 12 the June 2026 at Pasighat wherein the APLS Family along with relatives of lt LUMMER Dai shall commemorate the 87th birth Anniversary of literary doyen of Arunachal Pradesh. The award carries a specially designed memento by renowned Assamese Sculptor Biren Sinha, a Citation and a cash prize of Rs.50,000/-.Such Award is given in recognition of his outstanding contribution to literary and language development in Arunachal Pradesh.
Dr. Koyu expressed gratitude to the APLS and Axom Sahitya Sabha for glorifying the noble works of lt. LUMMER Dai the literary doyen of our state. He further recollects that his writings were in Assamese that bridges between the state of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam to maintain peace and brotherhood through his famous works like “Paharar hile hile”, Prithvir hahi” and ” Upor mahal as well as Konyar mulya” etc were the most popular Novels in Assamese language that literary doyen had authored.
