United Christian Forum Urges Manipur CM for Immediate Action to Curb Escalating Humanitarian Crisis

Itanagar: The United Christian Forum (UCF) has written to Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, calling for urgent and decisive steps to address the worsening violence and humanitarian crisis in the state.

In a letter dated April 25, 2026, UCF spokesperson Toko Teki expressed deep concern over the continued clashes between communities that have led to significant loss of lives, widespread destruction of homes, and large-scale displacement of families. The forum highlighted the climate of fear gripping civilians, with women, children, and the elderly being particularly vulnerable.

“Many families have been forced to flee their homes without any assurance of return, and even places considered safe havens have not been spared,” the letter noted. It pointed out the erosion of public trust due to prolonged unrest and stressed the need for visible governance to restore peace, enforce the rule of law, and deliver justice.

The UCF acknowledged the state government’s ongoing efforts, including the Chief Minister’s engagement with various stakeholders, and expressed support for initiatives aimed at restoring normalcy. The forum appealed for sustained action to enable displaced families to safely return and rebuild their lives, while urging collective efforts from all community-based organisations — such as the United Naga Council, Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity, and Kuki Inpi Manipur — to promote reconciliation and unity.

The appeal underscores the growing demand for compassionate and effective leadership to heal divisions and foster harmony in Manipur.
