Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women Holds Awareness Programme on Drug Abuse and Women Empowerment in Anini

Anini: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) organised a comprehensive awareness programme on drug abuse prevention and women empowerment at Anini, the headquarters of Dibang Valley district, on April 18.

The programme aimed to educate women and young girls about the growing menace of drug abuse in the region and to empower them with knowledge and confidence to play a proactive role in society.

Chairperson of the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women, Radhilu Chai Techi, addressed the gathering and stressed the need for women to become active agents of change in their families and communities. She highlighted how drug abuse is not only destroying the youth but also severely impacting family structures and social harmony.

Techi urged women to remain vigilant, educate their children about the dangers of drugs, and report any suspicious activities related to drug peddling to the authorities. She also encouraged women to take up leadership roles and participate actively in decision-making processes at the grassroots level.

The programme included interactive sessions, speeches by resource persons, and distribution of informational materials on drug de-addiction and women’s rights. Several women from nearby villages and self-help groups attended the event.

This initiative by the State Commission for Women is part of a series of awareness campaigns being conducted across the state to address social issues and promote gender equality and community well-being.
