Landslide Disrupts Key Route in Arunachal Pradesh, Prompting Travel Advisory

Anini, March , 2025 – A significant landslide has obstructed National Highway-313 in Arunachal Pradesh, severely impacting travel between Anini and Roing in the Dibang Valley district. The incident, reported on Tuesday, has led local authorities to issue an urgent advisory cautioning against travel along the affected route for at least two days.

The landslide struck near kilometer 5 from Etalin, a critical stretch of NH-313, cutting off a vital connection in the region. Heavy rainfall in recent days is believed to have triggered the event, washing away parts of the roadway and halting all traffic. The Dibang Valley administration has urged residents and travelers to avoid the Anini-Roing route on March 5 and 6, emphasizing safety concerns due to unstable terrain and ongoing adverse weather conditions.

Efforts to clear the debris are underway, with teams and machinery deployed to restore access. However, officials estimate that the restoration process could take at least 48 hours, depending on weather improvements. The highway’s disruption has raised concerns among locals, as it serves as an essential link for transportation and supplies in this remote part of the state.

The administration has promised regular updates and is working diligently to ensure the road is safe for travel as soon as possible. For now, commuters are advised to plan alternative routes or delay their journeys until the situation stabilizes. This event underscores the challenges posed by unpredictable weather in Arunachal Pradesh’s hilly regions, where landslides remain a recurring issue.
