Arunachal Farmers to Benefit from Rs 226.46 Crore Under PM-KISAN Scheme

Itanagar, February 24, 2025 – Farmers in Arunachal Pradesh are set to receive a financial boost of Rs 226.46 crore as part of the 19th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. The announcement came during a nationwide event led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bhagalpur, Bihar, where funds were released to support agricultural communities across India.

The PM-KISAN initiative, a flagship program of the central government, provides direct income support to land-holding farmers. Under this installment, approximately Rs 22,000 crore has been disbursed to the bank accounts of 9.8 crore farmers nationwide. In Arunachal Pradesh, eligible farmers will each receive Rs 2,000, contributing to the annual assistance of Rs 6,000 delivered in three equal parts.

State Agriculture Minister Gabriel D. Wangsu joined the event virtually, accompanied by departmental officials. He commended the scheme for its positive impact on the state’s farming sector and highlighted the motivational insights shared by prominent speakers during the program. Across the country, Krishi Vigyan Kendras hosted events featuring exhibitions on natural farming, organic practices, and GI-tagged products, promoting sustainable agriculture.

The Rs 226.46 crore allocation is expected to enhance the livelihoods of Arunachal’s farmers, enabling them to invest in essential resources and strengthen the region’s agrarian economy. This latest disbursement underscores the government’s ongoing commitment to supporting rural development and empowering farmers nationwide.
