Tripura CM Manik Saha Requests Rail Minister to Launch Vande Bharat Train Between Agartala and Guwahati; 4 Militants Arrested in Manipur

Agartala, (H.S.). The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, has urged Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to introduce a Vande Bharat train service between Agartala, the capital of Tripura, and Guwahati, Assam. The Chief Minister recently met with the Rail Minister in New Delhi and discussed various railway development projects for the northeastern state.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, CM Saha shared the details of the meeting, saying, “I met with Union Railway and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at the Rail Bhawan in New Delhi. During the meeting, we discussed various development topics such as the Vande Bharat train, an inter-city train between Agartala and Guwahati, a local train between Dharmanagar and Sabroom, laying new tracks between Jirania-Bodhjungnagar (Industrial Estate) and Dharmanagar-Kailashar, and introducing a Kishan Rail between Agartala and Guwahati.”

Earlier, CM Saha also met with Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to discuss matters related to the development and progress of Tripura.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested another accused in the violence that occurred during Ram Navami in West Bengal in 2023. The NIA stated that the arrested individual, Kamran Qureshi alias Shahrukh Qureshi, is a co-conspirator in the case. He is a resident of Sirampur, Hooghly district, and was taken into custody by the agency on Tuesday. The NIA’s Kolkata team recovered three swords and some ash-colored powder with a gunpowder-like smell, which was wrapped in a newspaper inside a black polyethene bag.
