Guwahati, January 2, 2025 – In a significant move to bolster infrastructure, the Assam Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, has sanctioned projects totaling approximately ₹419 crore.
Enhancing Rural Connectivity
A substantial portion, ₹210.8 crore, is allocated for 104 projects aimed at improving rural connectivity and infrastructure across 12 districts. This initiative is expected to facilitate better access and development in these regions.
Urban Water Supply Projects
An additional ₹207.92 crore has been approved for drinking water supply projects in Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Tezpur, and North Lakhimpur. These projects, part of the Urban Infrastructure Development Fund (UIDF), aim to provide clean and reliable water sources to urban populations.
Streamlining Employee Transfers
The Cabinet has also introduced an online portal to streamline mutual transfers for Grade III and IV employees, enhancing administrative efficiency and employee satisfaction.
Amendments to Birth and Death Registration
To improve the registration process of births and deaths, the Assam Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Rules, 2024, have been approved, ensuring more streamlined and accessible vital records management.
