Elephant Herd Wreaks Havoc on Jamugurihat Farms

A herd of wild elephants, venturing out of Kaziranga National Park in search of sustenance, has caused significant damage to agricultural fields in Jamugurihat. The marauding elephants rampaged through the village, devouring and destroying crops such as potatoes, mustard, cabbage, brinjals, and other cultivated produce. Villagers also reported extensive damage to granaries and other properties.

This recurring intrusion of wild elephants into human settlements has instilled a deep sense of fear among the local population. Villagers are now compelled to remain awake throughout the night to safeguard their homes and fields from these unpredictable visitors.

Despite the escalating crisis, the villagers allege that the Forest Department has remained largely unresponsive, failing to implement effective measures to mitigate the elephant menace.

The villagers have urgently appealed to the Forest Department to take immediate and appropriate action to prevent further destruction caused by these wild animals.
