Banderdewa Police Bust Narcotics Smuggle in Arunachal Pradesh, Seize Suspected Heroin and Arrest Two

Itanagar: In a swift anti-drug operation, Banderdewa Police in Arunachal Pradesh intercepted a scooter and seized 23.45 grams of suspected heroin, arresting two individuals. This action highlights the state police’s ongoing commitment to curbing drug trafficking, especially along inter-state borders.

Acting on credible intelligence about narcotics being transported from Assam into Arunachal Pradesh, a police team conducted a naka checking drive near Hanuman Mandir in Banderdewa. They stopped a Yamaha Ray-Z scooter and carried out a thorough search in the presence of independent witnesses, following all legal protocols under the NDPS Act.

Key Details of the Operation

The team, led by Inspector Kipa Hamak under the supervision of SDPO Naharlagun Rishi Longdo, recovered 18 vials of suspected heroin along with Rs 610 in cash from the accused. The arrested individuals have been identified as:

  • Nabam Subash alias Lulu, a resident of Ganga Market, Itanagar
  • Raj Pordung, from Khenewa in Seppa

The seized contraband was properly sealed and documented as per procedure. A case has been registered at Banderdewa Police Station (Case No. 35/2026) under relevant sections of the NDPS Act — 21(b), 27, and 29 — and investigation is underway.
