13-Year-Old Girl Dies After Falling from Moving School Bus in Arunachal’s West Siang District

Aalo (West Siang): A tragic accident claimed the life of a 13-year-old girl after she fell from a moving school bus in West Siang district on April 18.

The deceased has been identified as Jomnya Riram, a Class 8 student of Government Secondary School, Darka. The incident occurred while the school bus was returning from Aalo town towards Darka village in the evening.

According to preliminary reports, the girl was standing near the door of the overcrowded bus when she suddenly lost balance and fell onto the road. She sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to the Aalo General Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

West Siang Deputy Commissioner has expressed deep sorrow over the incident and directed the district administration and police to conduct a thorough investigation. He also ordered immediate safety checks on all school buses operating in the district.

Local residents and student organisations have demanded strict enforcement of safety norms, including limiting the number of passengers in school buses and ensuring proper door mechanisms and supervision by bus staff.

The tragic death has sent shock waves across West Siang district and once again highlighted concerns over safety standards in school transportation in remote and hilly areas of Arunachal Pradesh.
