Union Minister Annapurna Devi to Tour Arunachal Pradesh for Poshan Pakhwada Initiatives

Annapurna Devi, the Union Minister for Women and Child Development, is set to embark on a four-day visit to Arunachal Pradesh from April 10 to April 13, 2025, to participate in the ongoing Poshan Pakhwada celebrations. The visit aims to bolster the implementation of welfare programs focused on women, children, and marginalized communities in the state.

During her tour, Minister Devi will travel to the districts of Kra Daadi and Lower Subansiri, engaging in various activities under the Poshan Pakhwada framework. Her itinerary includes field visits to schools, Anganwadi centers, hospitals, cooperatives, and Self-Help Groups (SHGs), where she will interact with beneficiaries and frontline workers to assess the impact of central government schemes firsthand.

The Poshan Pakhwada, part of the broader Poshan Abhiyaan initiative, is a flagship program designed to enhance nutritional outcomes across India. Minister Devi’s visit underscores the government’s commitment to evaluating and strengthening the on-ground effectiveness of these welfare initiatives in Arunachal Pradesh. Through her engagements, she aims to ensure that the benefits of these schemes reach the intended communities, particularly in remote and underserved areas.

In addition to her field visits, the minister will hold review meetings with local authorities to discuss the progress of various programs and identify areas for improvement. This visit comes at a time when Arunachal Pradesh is witnessing significant developmental strides, as highlighted by Chief Minister Pema Khandu in a recent statement on March 31, 2025. Khandu noted that the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has surged by 135% since 2016, reflecting accelerated growth in multiple sectors.

Minister Devi’s tour is expected to further the objectives of the Poshan Abhiyaan while fostering greater collaboration between the central and state governments to address the nutritional and developmental needs of Arunachal Pradesh’s population.
