Khonsa: Security forces have apprehended three alleged militants linked to the NSCN-K (Niki Sumi) faction in a joint operation in Tirap district, dealing a fresh blow to insurgent activities in the region.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh Police conducted the raid in the Wancho Colony area of Khonsa on May 1, 2026. The arrested individuals have been identified as Wingan Agan (33), Jhonny Riba (21), and Rajapeyu Khechan Khetey (30).
During the operation, security personnel recovered two 7.65 mm pistols with magazines, nine live rounds, three mobile phones, three SIM cards, three GPRN letters, and a small quantity of brown sugar worth approximately Rs 500.
The arrested cadres, along with the seized items, were handed over to the Arunachal Pradesh Police in Khonsa for further investigation.
This successful operation highlights the continued coordination between central and state forces to maintain peace and security in the sensitive border districts of eastern Arunachal Pradesh.
